The Stichting Consumenten Competition Claims filed the case in The Hague on June 11. It acts for all Dutch PC gamers under the GameClaim banner. The group seeks 220 million euros from Valve to cover what they say are unfair practices on Steam.
Many gamers feel they paid too much for games due to regional pricing and other issues. The average loss per person comes to 130 euros. This adds up across the large number of players in the Netherlands.
Valve has not yet responded to the claim. The case could set an important example for how gaming companies handle prices across Europe. It highlights growing concerns about fairness in digital markets.
