Millionaires are leaving the UK at a fast pace. High taxes and new rules seem to be the main reasons behind this move. London may lose its appeal for the wealthy.
Samuel Johnson once wrote that when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. Today, however, there seems to be one group that is tired of London: millionaires. In the last week of June 2026, one of the world’s most famous antique fairs, the Treasure House Fair, took place in London, attracting fewer rich buyers than before.
Many experts blame high taxes and strict new laws for this trend. Wealthy people feel the UK is no longer a good place to keep their money. They are moving to countries with lower costs and better rules for the rich.
This exit could hurt the British economy. Shops, homes, and events in London may suffer without these big spenders. The country needs to find ways to keep its wealthy residents happy and in place.
