Lower Taxes Boost Knowledge Jobs in Europe

O

A new study shows that lower taxes lead to more knowledge-intensive jobs across Europe. Experts examined data from 34 countries since 2017 and found clear links between tax policies and skilled employment growth.

The research comes from Nima Sanandaji, Director of the European Centre for Entrepreneurship and Policy Reform, and Klas Tikkanen, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Capital. They tracked the share of adults in knowledge work in 34 European nations. Their goal was to understand how different policies shape high-skilled job markets over time.

Results point to a strong connection between tax levels and job growth in these fields. Countries with lower taxes saw faster increases in knowledge employment. This suggests that lighter tax burdens encourage businesses and workers to invest in advanced skills and innovation.

The findings carry important lessons for European leaders. Reducing taxes could help attract talent and expand opportunities in tech, research, and other knowledge sectors. Such changes might strengthen economies by building a more educated and productive workforce.
