I grew up in two very different households. One was full of leftist, liberal, and progressive ideas. The other was right-wing, conservative, and focused on merit. One key difference stands out. It is the gap between entitlement and accountability. The progressive side often feels owed something. The conservative side stresses hard work and results. Being smart enough to see both sides can also mean being wrong if you pick one without balance. These lessons stay with me today.
